Poderi Boscarelli is a distinguished family-run winery located in Cervognano di Montepulciano, Tuscany, renowned for producing elegant and age-worthy Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Established in 1962 by Egidio Corradi, a Genoese-born wine enthusiast with deep roots in Montepulciano, the estate was founded on his vision of crafting noble wines that reflect the essence of his homeland. Corradi acquired two neglected farms in Cervognano, recognizing the area's potential for producing exceptional wines.
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG and other quality wines as a result of traditional Boscarelli winemaking methods.
Today, the winery is managed by his daughter, Paola De Ferrari Corradi, and her sons, Luca and Nicolò, who continue the family's dedication to quality and tradition. The estate encompasses approximately 22 hectares of vineyards, primarily planted with Sangiovese (locally known as Prugnolo Gentile), along with smaller quantities of Canaiolo, Colorino, and Mammolo.
Boscarelli's flagship wine, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG, has been produced since 1968 and represents about half of the winery's production. This wine undergoes traditional vinification methods and is aged in Allier and Slavonian oak barrels for 18 to 24 months, resulting in a harmonious blend of freshness, elegance, and complexity.
In addition to their classic Vino Nobile, Boscarelli produces several single-vineyard wines, including "Il Nocio," "Costa Grande," and "Sotto Casa," each showcasing the unique characteristics of their respective terroirs. The winery also offers a Rosso di Montepulciano called "Prugnolo," crafted from 85% Sangiovese and 15% Mammolo, providing a more approachable expression of the region's varietals.
Boscarelli's commitment to sustainable viticulture and minimal intervention in the cellar ensures that their wines authentically express the character of their vineyards. With a production of approximately 100,000 bottles per year, the winery maintains a focus on quality over quantity.
The estate welcomes visitors for tastings and tours by appointment, offering an opportunity to experience their wines and the picturesque Tuscan landscape firsthand. Poderi Boscarelli stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of family, tradition, and a passion for winemaking in the heart of Tuscany.
