And terroir in the Sherry triangle is not only the soil, climate and exposure, it’s also the winery. And to show that Lustau, one of the most prestigious winery in the region, launched three wines – same base, same ageing, same barrels but aged in threedifferent wineries in Jerez de la Frontera, Puerto de Santa Maria and Sanlucar de Barrameda, where this Manzanilla is coming from. From the most planted red grape variety to simple blending partner, Garnacha has lived many lives in Spain. And now it has finally entered in the era of greatness, it’s called “Pinot Noir of the South” for a reason. Delicate and pale, it is terroir reader and can be made in many very different styles. Dominik Huber, born and raised in Munich, Germany, has found his destiny in Priorat, where he founded Terroir al Limit together with legendary winemaker from South Africa Eben Sadie. He was the first one to fully stop using oak and move to cement, start harvesting earlier, make short maceration, making very pale, elegant and deep wines. Later he realized that for the hot and dry conditions on slate soils suits Carignan the best, Garnacha need more air and height. That how he found Montsant, where together with his winemaker Tatjana Peceric he founded Terroir Sense Fronteres, aiming to make the most ethereal Garnacha that Catalonia has ever seen.
